Questions
Are my PDFs uploaded?
No. The tool runs inside your browser, so your PDFs never leave your device and nobody else can see them.
How strong is the encryption?
PDFs are encrypted with AES-256, the strongest standard PDF encryption, supported by Adobe Acrobat, Preview, Chrome and every current PDF reader. AES-128 is available for very old readers. The encryption is done by qpdf, a widely used open-source PDF library.
What if I forget the password?
It can't be recovered, by us or anyone else, because the password never leaves your device. Keep the original unprotected file, or store the password somewhere safe.
Do the printing and copying limits stop everyone?
Good PDF readers respect them, but they're a polite request rather than a lock: some tools ignore them. The open password is what really keeps people out.
Is there a size limit?
Up to 50 PDFs at once and 50 MB per file. Very long documents work too; the page count only depends on your device's memory.
