Questions

Is my audio uploaded?

No. The file is decoded and processed by your browser, so the sound never leaves your device.

What if the files are different?

Everything is converted to the highest sample rate among the files, and to stereo if any file is stereo, so the parts join without speed or pitch changes.

Which formats work?

Whatever your browser can play: MP3, WAV, M4A/AAC, OGG, Opus and FLAC work in current Chrome, Edge, Firefox and Safari. Files are saved as WAV, which every editor and player opens, because browsers can't write MP3. WAV, FLAC and MP3 keep their sample rate; other formats are read at 48 kHz. Files up to 30 minutes work here.
